This policy explains what personal data esouq collects, why, and your choices. It applies to the esouq app and app.souqom.com.
1. Information we collect
Account data (name, email, phone, hashed password); business data for sellers (commercial registration number and verification documents); content you create (listings, offerings, reels, reviews, chat messages); and usage/device information.
2. Location data
If you use “near me”, your browser asks permission to share your approximate location so we can show nearby businesses. This is optional — declining simply disables that feature; the rest of esouq works normally.
3. How we use your data
To run the marketplace: authenticate you, show and rank listings, enable quotes/bookings/chats, verify businesses, process subscriptions, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
4. Payments
Subscription payments are processed by Thawani. We do not store your full card details; Thawani handles card data under its own security and policies.
5. When we share data
Public profile and listing content is visible to other users by design. We share data with service providers who help us operate (e.g. hosting, payments), and where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
7. Your rights
You can access and update most data from your account, and request correction or deletion. Contact us through the Help Centre to exercise these rights; some data may be retained where the law requires.
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
9. Children
esouq is a business platform intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
